The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary & Higher Education (QAHE) is pleased to announce a significant milestone in its commitment to enhancing educational quality and standards across borders. In an effort to foster international collaboration and recognition, QAHE has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for reciprocal recognition with the Mercosul Accreditation Agency, Brazil (MACCA). This partnership aims to strengthen the framework of quality assurance in higher education within the Mercosur region and beyond.

Strengthening Quality Assurance in Education
The signing of this MOU represents a pivotal step in QAHE's mission to promote and uphold the standards of educational excellence globally. The partnership with MACCA, a recognized accrediting agency in the Mercosur region, aligns with QAHE's goals of ensuring that institutions and programs meet rigorous quality standards. Both organizations share a mutual commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement in education and enhancing the overall quality of academic offerings.

MACCA is dedicated to ensuring that higher education institutions achieve excellence through robust accreditation processes. Recognized by the International Board of Standards (IBS) and the Global Academy of Finance & Management (GAFM), MACCA operates on the principle that quality education is foundational to societal progress. This synergy between QAHE and MACCA will enable both parties to leverage their strengths and expertise in quality assurance, ultimately benefiting educational institutions and students alike.

Benefits of the MOU
The reciprocal recognition agreement will provide several advantages for both QAHE and MACCA member institutions:

  • Enhanced Credibility: Institutions accredited by either QAHE or MACCA will gain increased credibility and recognition in their respective regions, allowing for greater acceptance of qualifications across borders.
  • Streamlined Accreditation Processes: The MOU will facilitate a more efficient accreditation process for institutions seeking recognition from both agencies. This collaboration aims to reduce redundancy and streamline the evaluation process.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Both organizations will engage in knowledge sharing and best practices in quality assurance, contributing to the ongoing development of robust accreditation frameworks.
  • Expanded Opportunities for Students: By recognizing each other's accredited programs, students will have greater access to internationally recognized qualifications, enhancing their employability in a global job market.
  • Collaboration on Quality Assurance Initiatives: QAHE and MACCA will collaborate on various initiatives aimed at promoting quality assurance in education, including joint workshops, conferences, and training sessions for educators and administrators.

A Vision for the Future
The collaboration between QAHE and MACCA is rooted in a shared vision for the future of education in the Mercosur region and beyond. Both organizations recognize that quality assurance is essential for building trust in educational institutions and ensuring that students receive the highest standard of education.

As part of the MOU, QAHE and MACCA will work together to establish a framework for mutual recognition of accreditation standards, ensuring that institutions meet the necessary criteria to be deemed credible and reliable. This partnership will also pave the way for future collaborations in research, policy development, and advocacy for quality education.

The signing of the MOU for reciprocal recognition between QAHE and MACCA is a landmark achievement that underscores the importance of collaboration in the field of education. By working together, both organizations aim to enhance the credibility and quality of higher education, providing students with the opportunities they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive world.
