QAHE Publishes New Research Paper on World Quality Assurance in Education and Its Compatibility with AI Development

Oct 21, 2026

The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE) is pleased to announce the publication of its latest research paper, World Quality Assurance in Education Across Levels and Its Compatibility with Artificial Intelligence Development.

Prepared by the QAHE Research Committee, the paper provides a comprehensive examination of global quality assurance systems spanning pre-tertiary, vocational, higher education, and lifelong learning, and analyses how these systems can remain robust and relevant amid the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence.

Drawing on established international frameworks—including the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG), INQAAHE International Standards and Guidelines, UNESCO guidance on generative AI, and ISO standards for educational organisations—the research maps the evolution of external and internal quality assurance while exploring AI applications in personalised learning, assessment, administrative efficiency, and predictive analytics.

The paper addresses critical challenges such as assessment validity, algorithmic bias, data privacy, fairness, and academic integrity. It argues that quality assurance and AI are not inherently incompatible; rather, they can reinforce one another when AI is governed through human-centred, transparent, and accountable frameworks that preserve educational purpose.

Key contributions include an integrative model for QA agencies and institutions, practical recommendations for embedding AI governance within existing standards, and specific implications for QAHE’s own accreditation and enhancement work across educational levels.

The full research paper is now available for download. Institutions, educators, quality assurance professionals, and policymakers are invited to engage with the findings as they navigate the dual priorities of maintaining educational excellence and responsibly integrating emerging technologies.
