QAHE Publishes Dissertation on Quality Assurance and Artificial IntelligenceThe International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary & Higher Education (QAHE) is pleased to announce the publication of a doctoral dissertation entitled Evolving Quality Assurance in Education: Global Frameworks, Institutional Practice, and Artificial Intelligence Development.
The dissertation was prepared by Natasha Perkins of the QAHE Accreditation Committee. It examines the compatibility of established quality assurance frameworks—including the ESG, INQAAHE International Standards and Guidelines, UNESCO guidance on generative AI, and CHEA principles—with the development of artificial intelligence in education. Drawing on systematic reviews published in 2025–2026 and policy guidance from international bodies, the work analyses opportunities for AI-supported quality enhancement alongside risks related to assessment integrity, equity, and governance. It concludes that existing quality assurance principles remain compatible with AI when human judgment, transparency, and educational purpose are preserved. The full dissertation is available for download at: Download the Dissertation (PDF)
QAHE encourages institutions, faculty members, quality assurance practitioners, and researchers to read the dissertation and to share it with colleagues and staff. The work is intended to support informed discussion on the integration of artificial intelligence within accountable and human-centred quality systems.
QAHE accreditation remains a voluntary quality assurance process and does not confer authority to award qualifications.
