Oct 31, 2026

The Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) has included news related to the International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE) in its “International QA in the News” section.

The feature appears in the April 20, 2023 edition titled “Disrupting Higher Ed–ChatGPT and Generative AI,” available at https://www.chea.org/disrupting-higher-ed-chatgpt-and-generative-ai. In the headlines summary, CHEA highlights a report on universities in Idlib and notes that the QAHE announced a memorandum of understanding with the Higher Education Council in northern Syria. The summary describes the agreement as supporting mutual recognition and strategic cooperation aimed at enhancing international accreditation, including the exchange of scientific and academic experiences, promotion of scientific research and publishing, and the development of a culture of quality assurance between the parties.

QAHE welcomes the inclusion of this development in CHEA’s international quality assurance news roundup. The organization continues its work as an independent quality assurance body and remains focused on institutional review processes for education providers.

The full CHEA page can be viewed at https://www.chea.org/disrupting-higher-ed-chatgpt-and-generative-ai. QAHE encourages institutions and stakeholders to consult primary sources when reviewing accreditation and recognition matters.
