QAHE Cited in International Journal of Private Higher Education Article on Private Higher Education and International Students

Mar 26, 2026

The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre‑Tertiary & Higher Education (QAHE) is pleased to announce that our analysis, "Advancing Education Excellence: A Comprehensive Analysis of Higher Education in the UAE" (QAHE, 2024), is cited in a peer‑reviewed article published in the International Journal of Private Higher Education (IJPHE). The article, "International Students and Private Higher Education: A Five‑Country Overview" by Shahid Hafeez (Volume 3, Issue 2, Winter 2025), highlights QAHE’s contribution to the discussion on the role of private provision and internationalisation in the UAE.

Hafeez’s comparative study examines private higher education across the USA, UK, Canada, Australia and the UAE, with special attention to the drivers of international student mobility and the policy contexts that shape private provision. The paper cites QAHE’s UAE analysis when describing the UAE’s strategic emphasis on private and transnational higher education and the country’s efforts to attract international branch campuses and foreign investment.

QAHE welcomes this academic recognition. Being referenced in an international scholarly review underscores the relevance of our country and sector reports to researchers, policymakers and institutions engaged in quality assurance, cross‑border education and private higher education policy. We regard such citations as an important indicator that QAHE’s evidence and analyses are informing global discussion on quality, regulation and international student mobility.

Readers who wish to consult the source may access Shahid Hafeez’s article in the International Journal of Private Higher Education (IJPHE, Winter 2025). QAHE will continue to publish country overviews, best‑practice guidance and research summaries that support institutions, governments and stakeholders in designing quality frameworks for private and transnational higher education.
