
The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary & Higher Education (QAHE) is pleased to announce the conferment of QAHE Honorary Fellowship upon two eminent figures from the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO): H.E. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director General of ALECSO, and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sanad Abu-Darwish, Director of the Department of Science and Scientific Research at ALECSO.
This prestigious honour recognises their outstanding leadership, visionary contributions, and unwavering commitment to advancing quality education, scientific research, and cultural development across the Arab world. Both distinguished scholars have played instrumental roles in strengthening regional and international cooperation in higher education and scientific innovation, values that strongly align with QAHE’s mission of promoting excellence and quality assurance globally.
H.E. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar has provided exceptional strategic leadership as Director General of ALECSO since 2021, and was re-elected for a second term in 2023. Under his guidance, ALECSO has significantly expanded its impact through the development of major strategic frameworks, including the Strategic Plan 2023–2028 and the Arab Plan for Education in Times of Emergency and Crisis. His efforts in promoting Arab cultural diplomacy, preserving heritage, advancing digital education, and fostering dialogue among member states have earned him wide international recognition.
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sanad Abu-Darwish has made significant contributions to the advancement of scientific research and innovation in the Arab region. As Director of the Department of Science and Scientific Research at ALECSO, he has been a driving force behind the promotion of Open Science policies and the establishment of the ALECSO Science Gate — the first platform of its kind in the Arab world designed to connect researchers regionally and internationally. His academic background in pharmaceutical sciences and his extensive experience in higher education have greatly supported ALECSO’s mission to enhance scientific capacity and knowledge sharing across Arab countries.
The awarding of QAHE Honorary Fellowship to these two distinguished leaders reflects QAHE’s deep appreciation for their exemplary service to education, science, and regional development.
