QAHE Awards Dr. Bal Krishna Acharya with Outstanding Educator Award and Honorary Doctorate

The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE) is delighted to announce that Dr. Bal Krishna Acharya has been honored with the Outstanding Educator Award. In addition to the Outstanding Educator Award, Dr. Acharya has been conferred the Doctor of Development Studies (Honoris Causa) by the American University of Business and Social Sciences (AUBSS) in partnership with QAHE. This honorary doctorate reflects his extensive expertise and significant impact in the field of development studies, as well as his dedication to implementing innovative solutions for global challenges.

Raised in the remote village of Godawari in Nepal, Dr. Acharya overcame economic hardships through hard work and determination. His early experiences with poverty inspired him to apply microfinance and cooperative banking techniques, improving livelihoods and reducing poverty by approximately 70% in his community.

Dr. Acharya’s work spans grassroots initiatives to global platforms, influencing a wide range of stakeholders, including public agencies, private sectors, and nonprofit organizations. His extensive fieldwork across nearly 150 countries on six continents has shaped his expertise in cutting-edge development strategies, which promote socio-economic growth, environmental sustainability, and social equity.

Notably, his innovative management techniques, including the RICH Method and the PLA approach, have led to impressive outcomes, such as a substantial improvement in the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI). Dr. Acharya's academic credentials, including multiple master's degrees and a Ph.D. in Development Studies, underscore his lifelong commitment to learning and growth.

Throughout his career, Dr. Acharya has published numerous articles on critical topics such as economic growth, peacebuilding, and environmental protection. His scholarly contributions, coupled with prestigious awards and scholarships from various international organizations, highlight his dedication to advancing global development.
