QAHE and National Accreditation Commission of Schools and Colleges (NACSC) Sign MoU for Reciprocal Recognition

Feb 02, 2025

The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Accreditation Commission of Schools and Colleges (NACSC). The National Accreditation Commission of Schools and Colleges (NACSC) is an autonomous body registered under Act 2 of 1882 with the State Government of Karnataka. This strategic partnership aims to enhance the quality of education by fostering reciprocal recognition between the two organizations, thereby broadening the scope of accreditation services available to educational institutions.

Section 1(3) & (4) of Article 1 of the Decree of the Amended NACSC Governance Act, 2016, empowers it to function as an independent national accreditation and regulatory authority in India, which ascertains its authority as an independent accreditation body for Schools, Colleges and Universities. NACSC aligns with the principles outlined in the framework for independent accreditation agencies in the State Government of Andhra Pradesh’s Act 21 of 2019 and will remain outside the purview of the government, functioning independently. NACSC’s mission is to serve as an independent accreditation body for both national and international schools and higher educational institutions, adhering to the regulatory standards and practices established under this NACSC Governance Act to ensure the quality and credibility of its accreditation processes.

Under this MoU, QAHE and NACSC will collaborate to establish a framework for mutual recognition of accredited institutions. This initiative is designed to facilitate the exchange of best practices, resources, and expertise, ultimately promoting higher educational standards across borders. Educational institutions accredited by either QAHE or NACSC will benefit from enhanced credibility and recognition, allowing for greater international collaboration and student mobility.

The partnership aligns with both organizations' missions to uphold and promote high academic standards and quality assurance in education. By working together, QAHE and NACSC aim to support institutions in their quest for excellence, ensuring that they meet rigorous accreditation standards that reflect global best practices.

QAHE and NACSC believe that this collaboration will not only strengthen their respective accreditation processes but also contribute to the overall improvement of educational quality in both national and international contexts. Stakeholders are encouraged to explore the opportunities this partnership presents, as both organizations remain committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in education.
