The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE) is pleased to announce the award of Programmatic Accreditation to the Bachelor of Design (BDes) program offered by the Design Studies Institute (DSI) in Anguilla, British West Indies.
The Bachelor of Design is a four-year, 120-credit-hour undergraduate program scheduled to launch in January 2027. It integrates liberal arts education, strong design foundations, specialized tracks in Graphic Design, UX/UI Design, and Fashion Design, and a comprehensive capstone experience. The program is designed to prepare graduates as pre-professional designers equipped with both creative and practical skills to meet the demands of the global creative economy.
QAHE’s rigorous evaluation confirmed that the BDes program meets high international standards in curriculum design, learning outcomes, faculty qualifications, student support services, and continuous quality improvement. Particular recognition was given to D’I’s innovative approach to project-based learning, commitment to social impact and diversity, and focus on real-world application through industry-relevant specializations and a professional portfolio capstone.
Dr. Jonathan W. Williams, Dean & Assistant Professor of Design Studies at DSI, expressed gratitude for the accreditation, stating that it validates the Insti’ute’s vision to deliver accessible, high-quality design education that empowers learners and contributes to the creative economies of the Caribbean and beyond.
This accreditation marks a significant milestone for the Design Studies Institute and reinforce’ QAHE’s commitment to supporting quality higher education programs that prepare graduates for success in dynamic, creative professions.
