Dr. CJ Manjarres-Wahlberg is a highly respected maritime professional, educator, and social impact leader with over three decades of distinguished service. Born in 1978 in Australia, he began his career in the Royal Australian Navy in 1996 as a Signalman, later serving in both the Navy and the Australian Army Reserve. His military service included numerous operational, peacekeeping, and humanitarian missions across the Asia-Pacific region.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Governors and Director of the Sea Heritage Foundation, where he has pioneered transformative Indigenous maritime training programs. Under his leadership, the Foundation has achieved a remarkable 99% completion rate for Indigenous participants — significantly higher than the national average. He is also the driving force behind the development of the Sea Heritage Foundation Maritime Academy, aimed at providing quality maritime education and employment pathways for Indigenous Australians and veterans.
Dr. Manjarres-Wahlberg holds a Doctor of Business Administration (Maritime Safety) from SSBM Geneva and multiple postgraduate qualifications in safety, leadership, and emergency management. He serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Wollongong and holds several prestigious international appointments, including Ambassador for the Confidential Human Factors Incident Reporting Programme (CHIRP) for Australia and New Zealand.
