The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary & Higher Education (QAHE) is pleased to announce that Preah Sihamoniraja Buddhist University (PSBU) has been awarded the Excellence in Education Award 2026–2027. The award recognises the university’s sustained commitment to academic quality, values-based learning, and the development of higher education in Cambodia.
Located in Phnom Penh, PSBU was established in 2004 as Preah Sihamoniraja Buddhist College and attained university status in 2007. Founded under the leadership of His Holiness Samdech Preah Abhisiri Sugandha Mahasangharajah Dhipati Bour Kry, Supreme Patriarch of the Dhammayutta Order, and named by His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, the university was created to expand access to higher education for both monastic and lay students. It operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Cult and Religions and remains rooted in a mission that combines scholarship with ethical formation.
PSBU offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across four faculties: Philosophy, Religion and Law; Educational Sciences and Literature; Pali, Sanskrit and Foreign Languages; and Information Technology – Computer Science. Its academic work is supported by national and international quality frameworks. In addition to accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of Cambodia (ACC), the university holds recognition from the Accreditation Service for International Colleges (ASIC) and the International Education Accreditation Council (IEAC), and is a member of the International Association of Universities (IAU). QAHE first accredited PSBU in March 2024 and subsequently renewed its institutional accreditation, confirming continued alignment with international standards of governance, programme quality, and student support.
The Excellence in Education Award 2026–2027 acknowledges PSBU’s contribution to accessible, culturally grounded, and internationally engaged higher education. QAHE commends the university’s efforts to strengthen academic oversight, broaden learning opportunities, and prepare graduates to serve their communities with knowledge, integrity, and professional competence.
QAHE congratulates Preah Sihamoniraja Buddhist University on this recognition and looks forward to its continued progress as a centre of learning in Cambodia and the wider region.
