Mar 24, 2026

The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre‑Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE) is pleased to announce the signing of a Mutual Recognition Agreement with EDU, a treaty‑established intergovernmental organisation dedicated to advancing international education standards. The agreement, reported by EDU on 2 February 2025, establishes a framework for reciprocal recognition of accreditation decisions and educational standards between the two organisations and marks an important step in QAHE’s work to enhance the global recognition of quality education. Under the MOU, QAHE and EDU commit to collaborate on a range of activities aimed at improving institutional quality assurance and facilitating cross‑border recognition. Planned joint initiatives include the exchange of expertise and best practices, coordinated quality assurance strategies, and cooperation on innovative projects that support transparency and comparability of qualifications. This partnership will expand opportunities for institutions accredited by either organisation to benefit from broader networks, resources, and international visibility.

EDU has indicated that QAHE will be a key collaborator in its forthcoming Inter‑governmental Certificate of Degree Equivalence (ICDE) initiative, a system designed to provide real‑time verification of foreign credentials in line with the assessment values of the Lisbon Recognition Convention and the Bologna Process. QAHE welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the ICDE and to support efforts that promote fairness and mobility for graduates worldwide.

QAHE looks forward to working closely with EDU to implement the terms of the Mutual Recognition Agreement and to pursue shared goals of excellence, equity, and international cooperation in education.
