Announcement of Strategic Collaboration between QAHE and Council for Accreditation of Experiential Learning (CAEL)

The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Council for Accreditation of Experiential Learning (CAEL). This strategic collaboration aims to enhance educational quality and expand opportunities for accreditation and recognition of experiential learning across Africa and beyond.

In a significant recognition of leadership in the field, Prof. Humphrey Oborah, Director of CAEL, has been awarded the QAHE Honorary Fellowship Award. With over 24 years of advocacy for talent development, Prof. Oborah has served as the Secretary General and CEO of the World Talent Federation. His dedication to supporting gifted and talented individuals is evidenced by his establishment of several Gift and Talent Screening Clinics and Specialized Academic Clinics, in collaboration with various universities.

Prof. Oborah's journey is particularly inspiring; rising from a very poor background in Kenya, he has tirelessly fought for the recognition and support of gifted and talented learners in Africa, especially in his home country. Today, however, many acknowledge his vision and contributions to the field.

This partnership between QAHE and CAEL will focus on:

• Joint Accreditation Programs: Developing frameworks for recognizing experiential learning and prior achievements in higher education settings.
• Exchange of Best Practices: Sharing methodologies and insights to improve accreditation standards and processes.
• Capacity Building: Offering training and workshops to institutions and educators on quality assurance and experiential learning accreditation.
• Global Recognition: Ensuring that qualifications obtained through this collaboration are recognized internationally, providing learners with greater opportunities.

By combining resources and expertise, QAHE and CAEL are set to create a more inclusive and effective educational landscape. This collaboration reflects a mutual understanding of the importance of quality assurance in education, particularly in adapting to the evolving needs of learners and the job market.
