Rev. (Dr.) George Gonzalez Accepted as QAHE Institutional Teacher Affiliate Member

The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE) is pleased to announce that Rev. (Dr.) George Gonzalez, M.T.S., M.A., Ph.D., has been accepted as an Institutional Teacher Affiliate Member.

Rev. (Dr.) Gonzalez is a highly accomplished priest, educator, and licensed clinical counselor with extensive experience spanning over three decades in both pastoral ministry and mental health services. He currently serves as the priest at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Harlingen, Texas, while also maintaining active roles as a clinical mental health counselor, addiction specialist, and educator across multiple institutions in Texas.

With a strong academic background that includes a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, a Doctor of Ministry in Christian Counseling, and multiple master’s degrees in theology and counseling, Dr. Gonzalez brings a unique integration of faith, psychology, and education to his professional practice. He has taught at several higher education institutions, including the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), South Texas College, Texas State Technical College, and Wayland Baptist University, where he has instructed courses in psychology, counseling, addictions, ethics, and pastoral care.

In addition to his teaching and clinical work, Dr. Gonzalez has served as a jail and prison chaplain, Veterans Court counselor, and hospital chaplain. His extensive licensure and certifications in marriage and family therapy, addiction counseling, clinical psychotherapy, and pastoral care reflect his deep commitment to holistic healing and professional excellence.

As a QAHE Institutional Teacher Affiliate Member, Rev. (Dr.) Gonzalez joins a growing network of educators and professionals dedicated to advancing quality education and ethical practice. His acceptance into this membership category recognizes his significant contributions to teaching, counseling, and community service, as well as his ongoing commitment to integrating faith-based values with professional standards in education and mental health.
